Dyslexia is a neurologically based disability that impairs ones' reading and/or writing and in some cases their speech; despite the person's average intelligence and conventional education. The word dyslexia comes from the Greek word dys, which means "difficult," and lexis, which means "words."

One of the most obvious symptoms in dyslexics can be identified by their reading/writing behaviors. They read much slower than non-dyslexics and make numerous pronunciation mistakes despite their intense efforts. Dyslexics would usually stumble, hesitate and/or mispronounce words by switching letters or vowels. In addition, they would have problems understanding the content of what they are reading even if they fully know the definitions of the words they are reading.
